Ergonomics

Ergonomic design
Pressmaster has made substantial investments in research on how to reduce the risk of work- related injuries in the form of cumulative trauma disorders in hands and wrists. We design new crimp tools based on several basic guidelines in order to optimise the ergonomic performance;
  1. Mechanical Advantage - Increasing the mechanical advantage is the single most important way to reduce hand pressure and stress.

  2. Grip Diameter - Optimum grip diameter, i.e. where the hand can apply the most force with the least stress on the hand tissues.

  3. Mechanical Stress Concentrations - The handles must not concentrate the grip forces on a couple of fingers or the center of the palm.

  4. Handle Materials - Maximum force can be affected by the choice of materials and texture for the hand/handle interface.
